10-Minute Challenge: The New York Times attention challenges
On the first Monday of every month, The New York Times invites you to spend ten uninterrupted minutes looking closely at a work of art, with zoom, questions beforehand and details about the piece afterwards.
The New York Times’ “10-Minute Challenge” series is a concentration challenge: a stretch of uninterrupted attention, for example ten minutes, to look calmly at a work of art.
Once inside, you can zoom in to see every detail and move around the image at your own pace. The paper poses a question beforehand and, when you decide to finish, gives detailed information about the work and tells you how long you spent looking.
A good antidote to screen-hurry: looking at a single thing for ten minutes.
